Rogue Vine Jamon Jamon 2020
Location Notes: Grapes for the 'Jamon Jamon' come from a 5-acre organic and dry-farmed vineyard planted in 1960 in Guarilihue (GWAR-ee-lee-way) in the Itata region. Guarilihue is known for its many old vines of Cinsault and Moscatel. The vineyard is located at 820 feet above sea level on granite soil.
Winemaking Notes: This 100% skin-fermented Moscatel was made in the Itata tradition with extended maceration. The wine was kept in concrete for two months and then further aged in 500-liter oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: The nose shows orange peel, white flowers, peach, and orange blossom with savory undertones of sage and toasted almonds. The palate shows notes of quince and marzipan with honeysuckle and a hint of black pepper spice. The finish is held long by the bright acid of the wine.
